Law and Public Policy - 766 Words

Law and Public Policy Public policy is very important, as it sets the stage for many different laws and regulations (Cohen, 2012). The law addressed here is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, more commonly known as Obamacare. The law is designed to ensure that everyone in the United States has healthcare coverage, but it also requires the vast majority of people to have that coverage (Patient, 2010). There are many supporters of the law, since it gives those with pre-existing medical conditions a chance to get healthcare at reasonable rates. However, there are also many people who are against the new law because they feel they should not be forced to buy insurance or anything else from the government. The US government is calling Obamacare a tax, in order to get around provisions that state the government cannot require citizens to buy products or services from the government. Not everyone is happy about the way the healthcare law has been created or enacted, but regardless of any of that there are many public policy issues that surround the healthcare law. The law comes from public policy regarding healthcare and welfare. In other words, many people in the United States were (and still are) on government assistance healthcare (commonly called Medicaid). This is not the same as Medicare, which is designed to be used by people who are of retirement age. Medicaid can be used by older people, but also by younger people who are low-income (Patient,Show MoreRelatedThe Three Strikes Law And Public Policy Essay1838 Words   |  8 PagesBrittney Seals-Johnson 12/8/16 CCJ 4497: Criminal Justice and Public Policy Final Paper The three strikes law came out of the â€Å"get tough† era in the late 70’s. string(136) " adorn tracts and terraces Application of Recycled Paper Puting the paper in the recycle bin helps re-create paper from bing resources\." Recycling is a procedure where waste or used merchandises are reproduced into new merchandises. A merchandise which has served its ain intent will be discarded, and recycling is an attempt to widen the usage life of a merchandise, therefore conveying a batch of benefits to humanity and the female parent Earth. Most points around us are reclaimable, although there are specific techniques used to recycle different stuff, including metal, plastic and paper. We will write a custom essay sample on Why Is Recycling Important Environmental Sciences Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now The full procedure of recycling involves 3 basic stairss. The used stuff has to be collected, and so sorted harmonizing to its stuff. The 2nd measure involves bring forthing useable goods from the sorted points. After the goods were produced, the last measure requires selling of the reproduced goods to the general mass, consumers or a specific market. As the reproduced goods are sold and reused, the full procedure of recycling is complete and will do manner for another rhythm to come. Why is recycling of import? Recycling helps continue the environment in add-on to supplying more useable objects to people without the demand for excess resources. Its importance can be seen in multiple ways. Below are the grounds in which recycling can be good: Recycling Saves the Earth Recycling a stuff can assist continue the environment. For illustration, recycling the paper can ensue in paper production without extra tree falling. By recycling more paper and selling it to consumer, more documents can be used without farther damaging the forest than its current rate of tree falling. Recycling Saves Energy Recycling a stuff takes less energy than to bring forth an point from virgin stuffs. For illustration, an aluminium merchandise uses both the aluminium and the immense sum of energy to bring forth it from natural ore. Therefore by recycling an point made of aluminium, we can recycle the metal once more and besides salvage on the immense energy which helps continue the environment. Recycling Helps Mitigate Global Warming and Reduce Pollution One of the biggest benefits of recycling is salvaging energy. Energy salvaging consequences in less emanation of C or nursery gases which are a byproduct created by energy production, which are damaging and harmful to the environment if released to the ambiance. Recycling Reduces Waste Products in Landfills Waste which are non recycled normally ends up in the landfill. It is here that the waste are left to decompose or decomposed, and this may take many old ages of even coevalss to to the full break up. More and more waste are being sent to the landfills, and if recycling does non take topographic point, the landfill may be right behind our places in the hereafter. Recycling Helps you Save Money Recycled merchandises normally cost less. Using bing stuff and a batch less energy, recycled merchandise can be sold for a fraction of the same point created utilizing virgin stuffs. Apart from that, selling waste for recycling intents converts refuse into utile hard currency. Recycling can besides be done at place, and taught to the kids as a good wont to be nurtured. Biodegradable waste can be used as fertiliser for workss. Creativity goes a long manner in salvaging money and salvaging the planet Earth. Recycling becomes progressively of import in a universe where the population is dining. More and more merchandises are being churned out to consumers. If these merchandises are non recycled at the terminal of the merchandise life, it will take coevalss to interrupt down or break up. Applications of Recycled Materials Application of Recycled Glass Man has found ways to recycle glass. This in fact, is extremely recommended and good to the fabrication line as it is easier to bring forth and be less. Crushed glass known as cullets, thaws easier and faster and cost less than the natural stuffs used to bring forth glass. This pattern is endorsed by the US Environmental Protection Agency as a better and greenish manner to bring forth glass. Common Non-container Uses Harmonizing to Glass Packaging Institute, recycled spectacless are best to be used for its initial intent before it was being sent for recycled. For illustration, glass bottles are best recycled to be made into glass bottles, and those which does non measure up in the container fabrication criterions can be channeled to other uses such as fibreglass. ( See References 2 ) Aggregate Materials Recognize it or non, we ‘re driving over glass every twenty-four hours in our lives. Parking tonss and concrete paving has grounded glass composing. Grounded glass as an effectual base stuff enhances the public presentation of the crushed rock in the mix, and sometimes is independent of other stuffs when used as a base. Glass-phalt is a stuff applied to doing roads, including airdrome tracks and main roads, doing the surface to hold higher clash coefficient, less slippy and less likely to check. Glass-phalt is made of recycled glass. Recycled glass is besides used to do glass beads, which in bend is used to do brooding pigment on the route. Abrasive Media Harmonizing to the Clean Washington Center, the use of recycled glass as scratchy media is known as â€Å" basal burden market † . It is verified that recycled glass has equal or better quality than traditionally used scratchy media, such as aluminium oxide or walnut shell. This makes recycled glass extremely competent in the surface readying of fabricating equipment constituents and even ships. Furthermore, less recycled glass is required to bring forth the same occupation when compared with use of traditional mineral. Furthermore, glass has the advantage of being non-detrimental to wellness with no silicon oxide exposure dust. Landscaping Green-scaping is a term used for landscape merchandises which are manufactured utilizing recycled glass. Glass does non absorb wet unlike its wooden opposite number, therefore bettering H2O bringing. It besides comes in assorted colourss to take from. Manufacturers use crushed porcelain in concrete slab in add-on to the recycled glass to adorn tracts and terraces Application of Recycled Paper Puting the paper in the recycle bin helps re-create paper from bing resources. This diverts the waste meant for landfills into useable merchandises which uses less energy, H2O and stuff to bring forth. How Much Paper is Recycled? How much paper is really recycled? Research shows that the sum of paper being recycled has reached record degrees. Harmonizing to the Paper Industry Association Council, â€Å" In 2008, 57.4 per centum of the paper consumed in the U.S. was recovered for recycling. This impressive figure peers 340 lbs for each adult male, adult female and kid in America. † Limits on Paper Recycling Documents are limited by the fibre it contains. As paper is recycled each clip, it breaks down into mush. This can be done for a maximal six or seven times. The fibre so will be shortened each clip until it is non useable. Office Grade Paper Office class documents are the highest quality documents in the rhythm of recycling. Its quality and firmness plus its hardy fibres, this type of paper are frequently recycled back into its initial class. However, decoloring is required to reproduce its whiteness. Newspaper Documents used for newspaper are frequently low choice paper, therefore it can non be recycled into better quality paper. As paper can non be upgraded through recycling, the paper used for newspaper are frequently recycled back into its initial use or lesser class Cardboard Cardboard, whether corrugated or pressboard, is made of the lowest quality paper. If it ‘s of all time recycled, it can be used for packaging. Producing boxes or cartons is ideal, as the colour or brightness dulls overtime as it is recycled, and boxing boxes like cartons seldom considers colour as an of import factor. Tissue Tissue can be a signifier of recycled merchandise. Since strength of paper is non an issue, unserviceable fibres are normally used for bring forthing tissue. Other Uses for Recycled Paper There are many other merchandises that are produced utilizing recycled paper: java filters, nappies, egg cartons, shoe boxes, serviettes or insularity. Application of recycled Plastic Recycled plastic can be used in many applications and merchandises, such as packaging, building or car constituents. Boxing Recycled PET or HDPE is chiefly used in packaging by retail merchants. Household names such as Coca Cola, The Body Shop or M A ; S normally use recycled plastic in some of their merchandises. Use of recycled plastic helps show a trade name image towards committedness to sustainable resource usage. Construction Recycled plastic is used a batch in building stuffs, such as drainage pipes, ducting or flooring. It is innovated into scaffolding boards or curbstones, where its lastingness and weight has superior benefit to Health and Safety intents. Landscaping Landscaping utilizations recycled plastics to be made into paseos, breakwaters, pontoons, Bridgess, fencings and marks. Durability, low care, vandal opposition, and its opposition to decompose are all cardinal grounds for plastic being used. Textile fibre / vesture Polyester fleece vesture and polyester filling for eiderdowns is often made from recycled PET bottles ( e. g. soft drink and H2O bottles ) . Polyester fibre is the biggest individual market for recycled PET bottles worldwide. Street furniture Street furniture, seating, bins, street marks and plantation owners are often made from plastic. They are cost competitory and immune to hooliganism. Local governments and schools are able to show recycling in action by stipulating recycled merchandises. Bin liners/ garbage pokes Plastic movie from beginnings such as palette wrap, bearer bags, and agricultural movie are made into new movie merchandises such as bin line drives, bearer bags and garbage pokes on a big graduated table. Application of Recycled Metal The maps of metals like steel, Cu, and aluminium was revealed 1000s of old ages ago. Their belongingss and features of strong, lasting, ductile and high conduction are extremely of import in a broad scope of merchandises today. However, metals are resources of the Earth which has finite measure and non replenish-able. Metallic element sedimentations are non-renewable resources that will run out if it is continued to be mined at the current rate. Therefore, it is extremely of import to recycle metals. Metallic elements can be recycled without losing any their key belongingss. Inefficient recovery of metals from industrial and consumer waste increases the force per unit area on the non-renewable resources of the Earth from which they are extracted. Discarding metal is bad for the environment due to the release of metallic atoms in the ecosystem. Recycling and metal recovery from the waste watercourse is indispensable in continuing valuable resources and the environment. Recycling metals are effectual because they can be recycled for infinite times, doing them highly friendly to the environment. Metallic elements differ from polymer plastics in a manner that the features are maintained irrespective of the physical or chemical signifier, although it might be dearly-won. Aluminum The extraction of aluminium from its ore requires immense sum of energy. To pull out aluminium from aluminum oxide is a complex procedure. Recycling aluminium merely takes about 5 % of the energy used compared to bring forthing it via excavation, and therefore merely releases 5 % of the CO2 emanation. This in add-on decreases the sum of waste being transported to the landfill. A recycled aluminium can salvage adequate energy to run a telecasting set for 3 hours. For illustration, recycling 1kg of aluminium saves up to 6kg of bauxite, 4kg of chemical merchandises and 14 kWh of electricity. Steel Iron is extracted from Fe ore which is common and extremely abundant. Normally found in a combined signifier with O or other elements like sulfur or C. Huge sums of energy required to pull out the Fe from the ore. Over 11 million dozenss of Fe and steel bits are produced every twelvemonth. From this sum 70 % are recovered. Of the staying measure, 60 % is sent to the landfill. Every ton of steel recycled can salvage 1.5 dozenss of Fe ore, 0.5 dozenss of coal, 40 % of the H2O used in production, 75 % of the energy required to pull out steel from the natural stuff, 1.28 dozenss of solid waste, lessening in air pollution emanation of up to 86 % , and decrease of H2O pollution release by 76 % . Recycling Metallic elements / Other Metallic elements to Look Out For Copper, Ni, brass, lead, gold, Ag, etc. can all be recycled. Since these metals are all rather valuable merely a smaller measure is in circulation. The recovery of these metals is sometimes ignored particularly when they are used in families and these points are disposed of by the homeowners. Application of Recycled Oil Did you cognize? That used, second-hand oil can be farther re-refined into base stock for lubricating oil? And besides, if you recycle merely 2 gallons of used oil, it is sufficient to bring forth electricity to run the mean family for about 24 hours. Cars, like many transit vehicles, are an indispensable portion of life for many of us. What is done with the used oil, whether to dispose of it or to recycle it plays a important function in equilibrating our desire for convenient transit with our hope for a clean and healthy environment for our kids? We are all familiar with recycling newspapers, aluminium tins, glass and plastic bottles, but many of us are non even cognizant of the attempts carried out by elephantine crude oil industry to advance used motor oil for recycling, for illustration, supplying convenient aggregation sites for the intent of maintaining used motor oil out of our H2O supplies and doing certain that the oil goes back into the recycling rhythm. Curiously plenty, even after it has been drained from an engine, motor oil retains some of its value. The oil collected can be recycled to salvage energy. Many establishments, schools or workss process the used oil for electricity coevals. Some workss even process it to be used for engine oil once more. As consumer, we can direct our used oils for recycling by taking it to the aggregation centre. If our autos are taken to the auto service centre, we can be reasonably certain that the oil will be recycled after they change. Additionally, we can do a difference by recycling the oil from our auto, truck, bike, boat, recreational vehicle or lawnmower. By dropping off our used motor oil today we help forestall pollution and conserve energy for a safer and healthier tomorrow Recycling used motor oil maintain oil out of landfills and ensures that this oil is available for re-use, reconditioning, recycling or re-refining. In fact, the best oil for the interest of environment is the longer permanent oil, doing certain that less oil is generated. Equally much as over 380 million gallons of used oil is recycled every individual twelvemonth harmonizing to the U.S. EPA, which is tantamount to over 50 per centum of all motor oil purchased yearly. Currently, used motor oil can be re-used or recycled in one of the three known ways – reconditioning, recycling or re-refining. Re-refining With modern and sophisticated method, refinement can be done with accurate provender and rigorous quality control. Used motor oil can be processed to take any drosss so it can be reused as a base stock for the new lubricating oil. This efficaciously extends the lifetime of the oil, doing it reclaimable for many times without directing it to the landfill. At the present, less than 15 % of used motor oil is refined and the consumer demand for refined used motor oil is low, doing it difficult to prolong for concern. It is of import to observe that the purchased refined used motor oil comply with the oil specifications as set by the vehicle maker. Reconditioning In some industries, oil is filtered or clean in commercial graduated table machine. Although it may non change over the oil back to its premier quality, it can take drosss and cardinal additives can be added to widen its life and maps. Re-Use and Reprocessing Both motor oil and fuels are petroleum merchandise. As lubricator, when the oil has ceased operation, it can be reused to be burned as fuel without the demand for farther intervention. Water and certain atoms may necessitate to be removed earlier before the oil can be burn for electricity coevals. 74 % of all oil recycled in the United States of America is for the intent of fuel burning in turbines, incinerators, power workss, cement kilns and fabrication installations. An extra 11 % of used motor oil is burned in specifically designed industrial infinite warmers. This creates a valuable signifier of energy, which helps our economic system by avoiding the demand to polish new commercial warming oil from imported petroleum oil. 5. Karl Marx Essays (1582 words) - Karl Marx, Marxism, Stateless People

Karl Marx 1 Karl Marx : The Man Behind Communism Were Karl Marx ideas on communism moral? It is quite obvious that some societies do or did believe that communism was a good way of life. Even though there are many drawbacks to communism there are still some advantages. Karl Marx is a man of intrigue he only did what he wanted to and not what others wanted him to do. Upon completion of my research I feel that Marx was a very bright man. His ideas may not be all together but a man that can introduce communism to the world and actually get people to follow Marx ideas is powerful to me. In my research paper I would like to tell you a little about the life and times of Karl Marx, and how is ideas effect the economy today. Karl Marx was born at 2 am on May 5, 1818. Marx was one of eight children he had two brothers and five sisters. His mother Henriette Prockmon called Karl, Gluckskind meaning child of fortune. She loved Karl and his sibling all the same and felt fortunate to have children. But Karls father thought that Marx was possessed by a demon (Padover 22) it was probably since Karl always never did what his father expected of him. Karls siblings even saw him as a tyrant he would use his siblings as a horse and ridicule them all for being slow intellectually since he was gifted at learning compared to them. Marxs childhood was not all peachy he had two brothers and one sister die of tuberculosis, which ran in the family and kept Marx out of military service (Padover 38). Karl was raised as a Jewish man but in 1824 a Prussian government decree conformed a long- 2 standing practice that Non-Christians could not attend schools. So in August 1824 he was baptized in the Trier Evangelical church. Therefore he had his road to college paved for him by being able to go to school for lower education. Marx started college at Bonn University where his father wanted him to learn law and continue the family business. Marx on the other hand wanted to go for philosophy. He switched to Berlin University after his first year so that he could get a better education. Marx disappointed his father by not studying law and told his father I did not read works on jurisprudence primarily to become a lawyer, but rather to find metaphysical answers. (Padover 49). Marx got a doctorate in philosophy from Berlin with financial help from his mom whom was not well off financially and lived in a lower-middle class neighborhood. In 1842 Karl Marx started writing for a liberal democratic newspaper called Rheinische Zietung in Cologne, and at the end of 1842 Marx became the edi tor for the paper (Padover 29). In the beginning of 1843 Marx was told by the ministry that at the end of the quarter the paper must cease publication, causing Karl to resign immediately. The summer of 1843 before heading to Paris to devote his time to studying political economy and the history of the great French Revolution, he married the daughter of Privey Councillor Von Westphalen in trier named Jenny Von Westphalen. Marx liked to speak his mind in writings, which caused him to be expelled from France by Guizot in 1845 (Carver 208) . Upon leaving France he went to Brussels and stayed there, pursuing the same studies, until the outbreak of the February Revolution. Marx still could not keep his ideas to himself and was asked to leave Brussels, He was asked to return to France by the French Provisional 3 Government to help with the uprising there (Appelbaum 119). Marx lived a poor life; his long time friend Fredrick Engles asked Marx and his family to move to London where he was. By doing so Engles helped Marx with food and shelter for him and his family. While in London Marx and Engles worked on papers and books together, Marx wrote article for the New York Times at that time also. Even with all of the writings that Marx did he still never made a lot of money. In Karl Marxs later years

A Quiz About Quotation Marks

A Quiz About Quotation Marks A Quiz About Quotation Marks A Quiz About Quotation Marks By Mark Nichol Use of quotation marks for dialogue is fairly straightforward; several posts on this website that deal with the topic can by found by searching for â€Å"quotation marks.† This quiz deals with other uses of these emphasis markers. Read the following sample sentences, determine the problem with the use of quotation marks, and devise a solution. (Note that I use single quotation marks rather than double quotation marks because of my custom of framing the entire sample sentence in a pair of the latter.) Then, take a look at my revisions and explanations at the bottom of the page and see how they compare with your changes: 1. â€Å"The IQ evaluation provides a ‘snapshot’ of a child’s cognitive skills at a particular point in time.† 2. â€Å"Perry is connecting with a growing number of Republicans because of his uncompromising rhetoric and his back-slapping, guy-who-married ‘the first girl I dated’ persona.† 3. â€Å"Consider the glass ‘half full and not half empty.’† 4. â€Å"The old fixer-upper looks like it was designed by â€Å"The Amityville Horror† house architect.† (This example is from a newspaper; many such publications use quotation marks, rather than italics, to denote titles of films, books, and other self-contained compositions.) 5. â€Å"They reviewed cross-border reproductive care, or â€Å"medical tourism,† as an increasing phenomenon in respect to egg donation.† 6. â€Å"Our waterworks have reached the classic ‘run to failure’ moment.† 7. â€Å"He used scientific reasoning to show that singing and dancing could cure melancholy by stirring up the ‘secretions’ in the human ‘machine.’† Answers and Explanations 1. The informal usage of a word need not be excused with what are sometimes called apologetic quotation marks (what I refer to frequently in these posts by a more common label: scare quotes): â€Å"The IQ evaluation provides a snapshot of a child’s cognitive skills at a particular point in time.† 2. This sentence attempts to allude to erstwhile presidential candidate Rick Perry’s pride that he married the first girl he dated, but the writer, after a promising start in which they began stringing the relevant words together in an extended hyphenated phrasal adjective, fumbles by attempting to employ a direct quote. The best solution would be to abandon the attempt at direct quotation and fold a paraphrase into the adjective string: â€Å"Perry is connecting with a growing number of Republicans because of his uncompromising rhetoric and his back-slapping, guy-who-married-the-first-girl-he-dated persona.† 3. This reference to the idiomatic metaphors for optimism and pessimism implies that there is an idiom consisting of the phrase â€Å"half full and not half empty.† However, only the distinct antonyms â€Å"half full† and â€Å"half empty† are valid, and there is no reason to enclose them in quotes (also, a comma seems more effective than the conjunction and): â€Å"Consider the glass half full, not half empty.† 4. Here, the writer is attempting to employ the first word of the movie title as a direct article for the framing sentence, but it cannot serve double duty. In this case, it is acceptable to transfer the to duty with the sentence and leave the title temporarily bereft of the direct article that begins it (â€Å"The old fixer-upper looks like it was designed by the ‘Amityville Horror’ house architect†). However, the sentence would read more smoothly if it were relaxed, including the insertion of a couple of additional direct articles and the retention of the full movie title: â€Å"The old fixer-upper looks like it was designed by the architect who designed the house in ‘The Amityville Horror.’† 5. This sentence is doubly irritating. As in the first example above, the scare quotes are extraneous. In addition, it seems illogical to me to introduce the gloss (brief definition) of the phrase â€Å"medical tourism† before it; why, then, bother introducing the idiom at all? Use a term-then-gloss structure: â€Å"They reviewed medical tourism, or cross-border reproductive care, as an increasing phenomenon in respect to egg donation.† (A compromise is to explicitly identify the idiom as such following the literal description for the topic in question: â€Å"They reviewed cross-border reproductive care, known popularly as medical tourism, as an increasing phenomenon in respect to egg donation.†) 6. The phrase â€Å"run to failure† may be a partial quotation from someone, but unless it is a clever coinage heretofore unfamiliar to readers (and even then, use the explanatory solution in the fifth example, above), the phrase should simply be strung together as a phrasal adjective: â€Å"Our waterworks have reached the classic run-to-failure moment.† 7. Trick question in the original context, as least, it’s clear that â€Å"secretions† is a direct quote. Sometimes, it’s best to indicate that an unusual word was actually written or spoken by the source, and sometimes, scare quotes are helpful (as in the case of those framing machine, which may well have also been a direct quote). In this case, I’d leave the sentence as is. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Get a subscription and start receiving our writing tips and exercises daily! Keep learning! This form of ephemeral content is not featured on users’ profile grids and neither on the main Instagram feed. As a consequence, in order to be able to view them, you need to be connected with the company or the user who shared them in the first place. Later, a new feature was introduced, one that allows Instagram users to save their Stories and make them available to their followers for a longer period of time. Why Include Instagram Stories in Your Marketing Strategy? While all the important reasons have already been listed in the introductive section of this article, let’s add some other important data a marketer should consider before starting to include Stories in their marketing campaigns. According to  Mediakix, there are 2 times more stories posted by brands on Instagram than Snapchat. This means that marketers are already favoring Instagram as their major marketing channel and at the same time, that there’s a wider audience on it. The same source suggests that in a single month, at least 50% of the brands active on Instagram have already posted at least one story. At least 50% of the brands active on Instagram have already posted at least one story. This is not all there is. More and more marketers are becoming aware of the incredible returns of investment Instagram is able to deliver. They invest more in the platform, they produce more content. How to Use Instagram Stories as Your Campaign's Main Content Format Well, first and foremost, you need a working Instagram account and a content producing strategy.   Regardless of your final goals, it’s important to start on the right foot with any of your content marketing plans and in this case, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind before actually starting to post your stories such as: Your audience. It’s important to know a thing or two about the audience you are designing your messages for. Who are them? What’s the age group that your followers are a part of? What’s their social and economic status? Your goals. What is it that you want to achieve? Is it awareness? Or, do you want to drive in more sales? Maybe you want to gain more influence or to expand your audience? Whatever your goals may be, it is important to have them clearly stated before starting to work on your campaigns. In order to get from where you are now to where you want to be, you need to know what or where your destination is. Your visual identity. Stories are a form of ephemeral content which means that you don’t need to spend as much time brainstorming for ideas and designing the best possible slides. This is what the whole idea about this Instagram feature. It allows brands and individuals to be more creative by investing less in designs and more in spontaneity and truthfulness. However, this does not mean that you should neglect your visual identity and not take it into account. If you have such elements and they are popular among your audience or very well known, do not hesitate to include them in your Stories. You may benefit a lot from the awareness that is already there. Apart from the above, you should also consider the type of content you are going to start publishing. At this point, you have several options such as: 1. Product-Based Content Online shops and product manufacturers can leverage Instagram Stories by including some of their offers between their slides. Here’s an example from â€Å"The North Face† of a clever wordplay and a simple yet effective story that encourage their fans to shop for their bags: 2. Cultural/Social-Based Content If you are not in the business of selling goods, then you will have the liberty to post anything you want. If you are selling experiences, you can tie your content to the official purpose of your business. For instance, travel blogs or travel agencies can post collages from their most important and valuable destinations. Here’s an example from  National Geographic, which shared a story about the most visited national parks: 3. User-Generated Content Depending on how big is your fan base, you can leverage them to get even more awareness by challenging them to post on your behalf. You can either ask them to send you their pictures out of which you can design the stories or, you can ask them to publish their own stories. Their inputs can include branded hashtags, photos of products, services mentions and so on. The greatest example in this case comes from Red Bull, the true king of today’s online user generated content. They’ve created a whole media company to deal with this kind of content. There are however, other great examples as well. Here’s an example from Airbnb: 4. Other Types of Content There is no limit in what your stories can feature. It depends solely on your own inspiration and creativity and perhaps, the audience you are trying to engage with. For instance, you can announce company related news such as  Ben Jerry  did in this example: Or, you can provide valuable content, as this  New York Time’s  questions and answers story featured in the next image: Tips on Driving More Engagement Instagram provides you with numerous tools that you can use in order to attract more followers and convince them to  engage with your brand. You may already know that accounts with more than 10 thousand fans can include a swipe-up slide on their stories and link back to their own web pages. Apart from this option which I am sure it will be more than beneficial for your campaigns, let’s talk a little bit about some other important options featured here: Polls. One of the easiest and yet most effective ways to drive in engagement and to increase your sales or awareness on your brand, is through polls. You can insert simple and straightforward polls within the slides of your stories and ask people questions and let them answer. A good example, in this case, comes from a cosmetics retailer, Nykaa, who presented their followers with a question and two answers which both led to a possible purchase decision. Also, you can use the polls to get valuable data from your audience and conduct a simple yet thorough market research about information that you need in order to continue your campaigns or start new ones. Geotags. There are a lot of stickers available for Instagram Stories. One of the most interesting and yet, more powerful of them is the geotag location sticker. Here’s an example of how a tagged story can look like: Mentions. You can also use influencer in getting more attention from a larger audience. They can either mention your brand or, you can let them take over your stories and give yours and their followers inside looks at some exclusive content. Here’s an example that comes from  Maybelline New York, a cosmetics brand that used Jordyn Jones as an influencer for one of their campaigns. Highlights: One of the most acclaimed updates the Stories received during 2017 was the introduction of highlights. This new option allows you to save your stories as an archive that will live on your Instagram Profile. This means that you can easily curate the content posted as stories and choose what your followers will see first when they land on your profile page. Summary: The benefits of an Instagram Stories Marketing Campaign Instagram Stories is a free marketing and engagement tool. You can invite people to visit your website via the swipe-up feature. Definition on Love Essay Example for Free

Definition on Love Essay A definition essay on love strives to define it as an emotion felt and displayed by humans, animals, and all living beings in their own way. It is a topic that has been written about through the ages and has found its way into books on literature and religion. Love knows no bounds and language is never a barrier. Wars have been fought over it. People have been and are still influenced by the emotion of love. Some of the best literary works are based on love, and even movie makers bank on it to win over viewers and create a hit. Love can be expressed in many ways. God has shown his love for us by offering us the emotion to share with others. In return, we love God for all the wonderful things he has given us. Our devotion towards God demonstrates love in the form of reverence. The love formed out of respect is the same love we have for our elders, family, and people we look up to. In a love essay, you could elaborate on love that one has for his family. It could be connected with religion, respect, or pure love not based on any conditions. A Romeo and Juliet essay is the ideal love story between man and woman. The word â€Å"romance† has been used in many ways to show love and affection between Romeo and Juliet. In modern society, people who are romantically attracted exhibit their love for each other with the help of cards, gifts, and words of love. The way love is expressed changes materially but the emotion remains the same. Couples find love in sex, affection for each other, and by communicating with each other more frequently. In fact, mankind has evolved through love between Adam and Eve. When you have to write a definition essay on love, aim to write a drama essay that incorporates love as its theme. It would generate interest among readers, and you would find many definition essay examples to choose from. The best way to write such an essay would be to look up dialogues from literary works of famous authors like William Shakespeare. Dialogues are the true expression of love that is exhibited through words. The best part is that you can refer to literary works written through the ages and get inspiration from the one you like the most. There are several other definition essay topics you can choose. It basically depends on the audience you want to write for. The topics could be on relationships in the family. You could write about the love between brothers and sisters. How different is a father’s love for his children from a mother’s love? You need to be old enough to really understand romantic love between two people, which is very intimate and sexual in nature. The aim of your essay differs with age. Choose more complex topics on love as you grow older. The emotion of love is progressive. You would be in a better position to write about love in its various manifestations when you personally experience it. The definition essay on love would truly carry your personal point of view, which of course would make writing the essay very easy.

Where Have All The Good Ones Gone? :: essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Honesty. Respect. Integrity. Motivation. Dedication. Patriotism. The preceding words represent qualities many of today’s American students lack. Many US citizens question the reason behind this decline of morality within the educational system. Parents blame the teachers; teachers claim the students are unable to be taught and parents aren’t attempting to assist teachers in their quest to disperse their knowledge. As for the students, they just don’t care. Who exactly is to blame? Students? Teachers? Parents? More importantly, how this be fixed? Government programs like the recent â€Å"No Child Left Behind† Act aren’t as effective as they claim, and bribing the students with field trips and Coke float parties do not work. What is a nation, quickly filling with uneducated young adults, to do?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Many theories have been tested as to why students are becoming lazy and, for lack of a better word, stupid. Most fingers are pointed towards parental control. Commercials geared towards a drug-free America tell parents to ask questions: Who? What? Where? When? Most parents are too caught up in the drama of their own lives to wonder who their kids hang out with, and where and what they are doing with them. They are more concerned with Mr. Limon not paying them for overtime or why Clint and Robert got fired. Students are ignored and seldom rewarded for good behavior. However, when Mom and Dad get a call from the school when little Johnny was caught smoking marijuana in the boys’ bathroom, it’s a different story. The parents become involved, but for all the wrong reasons. When the parents confront Johnny, he responds negatively, with slamming doors and outbursts of â€Å"You’re ruining my life† or â€Å"I can’t believe you!!† It shouldn’t take a drastic measure for children to get their parents’ attention. Parents should want to know what’s going on in their child’s life, in all aspects. In movies, the parent-teenager relationship is portrayed as something very awkward and forced. The way to solve this: change how it is seen in real life. Parents should talk to their children more, and their children will learn to trust them. In one family, a 30-something year old mother has a 16-year-old daughter. Because of their healthy relationship based on trust and understanding, the daughter considers her mother her best friend. Families need to spend more time together and less time on the run. Plan an uninterrupted family night—cell phones get turned off, computers are unplugged—where the family just plays a nice game of Monopoly or Life, or watches a movie based on positive moral values.

Interpersonal Communication Case study Essay

#1.) After reviewing the information in this case study, you find that Parris’ husband, Lavar, was not listening when Parris first told him to pick their daughter up from school. Explain how Lavar and Parris should use effective empathic listening and responding skills to discuss this issue. I think that Parris should talk to Lavar and see why he is forgetting, they should talk it out and not get mad and yell, maybe Lavar is so swamped with work he has all his attention focused on work that he forgets. Likewise Parris works all the time and she does not forget so maybe Lavar isn’t really paying attention to Paris in what she is saying or he is generally forgetting what Parris is asking him to do. #2.) What are the five activities that make up the process of listening? Using the case study scenario, describe how Lavar might not have listened properly because he did not focus on one or more of five steps of the listening process. The five activities that make up the process of listening are: Selecting, Attending, Understanding, Remembering, and Responding. Lavar did not listen properly because he did not remember and probably wasn’t attending, his mind was probably elsewhere thinking about something else when Parris was talking to him. #3.) What are four common listening styles? Which listening style does Lavar employ? What about Parris? Can you foresee problems with a couple who have different listening styles? Why? 1) Relational-oriented 2) Critical-oriented 3) Analytical -oriented 4) Task-oriented. I think that Lavar employs the Task- oriented one the most because he seems to be interested in focusing more on accomplishing a task  than on focusing on the communication relationship when listening to others. Paris could be more a critical listener she seems to be good at evaluating information she hears, and is able to hone in on inconsistencies in what someone says. I think that there could end up being a lot of problems for these two if they do not figure out how to communicate and listen to each other properly. #4.) Using the specific examples from the case study, list and discuss at least three listening barriers that may cause conflict between Lavar and Parris. 1) Distractions: We get distracted by what is going on outside (our surroundings) and inside ourselves. 2) Attachment to personal beliefs and values: We tend to find facts and evidence that support our views and we dismiss anything that weakens them. 3) Misinterpretations: When we add an interpretation to what someone’s saying or doing, we introduce possible errors in communication. I think that for Lavar, his problem could be distraction. He is not really paying attention to what Parris has asked of him. #5.) Given the path you choose in the case study, do you believe Parris’ reactions will help Lavar and her overcome their listening differences or is she just masking the problem? What might she do differently to enhance their communication? I think that Parris is just masking the problem she is not really looking at why they are not communicating well enough she just thinks it is all on him, when it is not it is on both of them to be able to communicate effectively to each other. She can talk to Lavar and find out why he is not doing what she asks, is he ignoring her or is he not sure of what she wants because of bad communication?
